A Signbrella is a reimagining of an umbrella into a versatile protest tool. Because it is an umbrella it provides you with shelter from the rain and respite from the sun but with your cleverly-crafted wording painted on it, the umbrella is your protest sign! When the event is over, your signbrella collapses and makes travel convenient (and inconspicuous) whether by car, bike, train or bus!
Now you may be thinking "I'm no artist", but that's where we come in. This website was created for the sole purpose of helping people design and paint their own signbrellas. With our guidance, tutorials and reference materials you will be able to make a pretty awesome signbrella all on your own.
To be clear, we are not selling anything nor do we have affiliate links; we're just sharing what we've learned from hosting workshops with folks over the past several months.
If you are a member of a resistance group already and have a community that you think would embrace this idea, we do a limited number of workshops throughout the northeast and would love to talk with you about scheduling one with us. If you want to host a group yourself, use these helpful tools to create your first signbrella (maybe with a friend or two) and then you'll feel ready to host your own workshop(s).
